There should be a book called "Things you would never know unless you become a parent." In it, you would find such pearls of wisdom as this one here, in Chapter 9, page 172:

"Your child's finger and toe nails will grow at an astounding rate and be razor-sharp, unless you trim them at least every other day. Unfortunately, 93.6% of all babies will cry and flail uncontrollably during your futile attempts to do so. You have but one choice: waiting until your child is sound asleep, then going in with a special, night-time baby nail clipper with built in light. Filing after trimming is of the essence, and we recommend you take Manicure 101 at a local community college before even considering having a child."
