roaming pixels http://www.roamingpixels.com/ http://www.pixyblog.com/roller-ui/theme/pixy/logo.gif
roaming pixels is the photoblog of Phil Vergés.
(Many thanks to Richard at pixyBlog for making this possible!)

I have been fascinated with photography for about 26 years, although it remains a passion rather than a career. My first "serious" camera was a Minolta X-700, and I only upgraded to a Canon EOS 7e after it got stolen. For the last 7 years, most of my shooting was done with a Canon PhowerShot G2 - not really the most recent gear, but in my opinion, that is secondary to the person behind the camera. Hopefully, some of the pictures I take with my Palm Zire 71 can attest to that. I like the low-fi look; however, here I'm only posting high-res images.

More recently I bought a used Canon PowerShot G6, and I recently treated myself to a Canon Eos XTi, as well.

While I'm not able to update this blog daily, it is my goal to update it frequently, so keep on stopping by, and don't be shy about commenting!

All images and content on this website are copyrighted by Philipp Vergés, and are available for purchase through the Prints/Cards link or by contacting me via email.

You may not reproduce my photos for any purposes without my prior written permission.

In real life I'm a massage therapist, Shiatsu and Jin Shin Jyutsu® practitioner, and live with my wife Stephanie and daughter Mia in Brooklyn, NY.

You can reach me at philverges [at] gmail dot com.
en-us Copyright 2008 Sun, 5 Oct 2008 13:11:19 -0800 pixyBlog 3.4 (20080930123554:rj) http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/defiant defiant http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/defiant Sun, 5 Oct 2008 10:08:00 -0800 Travel General church general graveyard switzerland travel
A lone cross defies the sprawl of the overgrowth in this old graveyard.

Amsoldingen, Switzerland.
001-065255.jpg http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/mia-and-daddy Mia and daddy http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/mia-and-daddy Thu, 2 Oct 2008 10:14:00 -0800 Portraits Mia girl mia portrait self-portrait switzerland
Have you met my daddy? In it, you would find such pearls of wisdom as this one here, in Chapter 9, page 172:

"Your child's finger and toe nails will grow at an astounding rate and be razor-sharp, unless you trim them at least every other day. Unfortunately, 93.6% of all babies will cry and flail uncontrollably during your futile attempts to do so. You have but one choice: waiting until your child is sound asleep, then going in with a special, night-time baby nail clipper with built in light. Filing after trimming is of the essence, and we recommend you take Manicure 101 at a local community college before even considering having a child."

Hünibach, Switzerland.
001-064919.jpg http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/mia-plays-the-piano-this Mia plays the piano (this time, in Switzerland) http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/mia-plays-the-piano-this Sat, 20 Sep 2008 10:15:00 -0800 Portraits Mia baby girl mia piano portrait stephanie switzerland
Ok, forget what I said earlier regarding continuity...this is now the first post from our recent vacation in Switzerland. Titles of photographs and other art works have long fascinated me...I simply don't think that "Untitled #41" cuts it, especially if you compare that to the clever and ingenious titles chosen for their works by the likes of Magritte, Klee, etc., which make me enjoy them that much more. They can make you see things you would never have thought of, and guide your understanding of why the artist did what he or she did.

"So what about your 'Mia' series, then?" you might rightfully ask. Those titles were intentionally kept simple to restrain myself from getting to corny/carried away on the one hand, and on the other to make clear that each one is part of a series.

PS: Just to clarify: I am in no way comparing myself (or my titles) to Magritte or Klee.

001-015718.jpg http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/mia-iv Mia IV http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/mia-iv Sun, 20 Apr 2008 21:27:41 -0800 Mia Portraits baby girl mia portrait
Sometimes it's hard not to only post pictures of Mia anymore...Anyway, hopefully you enjoy this most recent post (almost) as much as we, her parents, do.
001-015619.jpg http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/going-places going places http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/going-places Wed, 16 Apr 2008 18:19:00 -0800 Travel Portraits blue man portrait switzerland travel

This gentleman seems poised to take on the world.

Near Thun, Switzerland.

001-015361.jpg http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/mia-iii Mia III http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/mia-iii Sun, 13 Apr 2008 20:42:48 -0800 Portraits Mia baby girl mia nude portrait stephanie woman

Mia is growing and changing in leaps and bounds!

Here I'm experimenting with muted tones, and quite liking the result.

001-015357.jpg http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/disparate-worlds Disparate Worlds http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/disparate-worlds Thu, 10 Apr 2008 02:03:30 -0800 General Miscellaneous bench man nyc subway white woman
Sometimes, waiting for the subway can give you a glimpse into a totally different world - but only a glimpse.
001-015241.jpg http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/roadside-chat Roadside Chat http://www.roamingpixels.com/entry/roadside-chat Sun, 6 Apr 2008 21:19:00 -0800 Portraits Travel green man portrait thailand travel trees

One from the Thailand vault.
